Henley By-Election On June 26

Henley voters will go to the polls on Thursday June 26 to choose a successor to London Mayor Boris Johnson.

It will be the first by-election after Crewe and Nantwich where the Tories overturned Labour's 7,000+ majority to take the seat.

However, although Henley is a safe Tory seat, David Cameron's Conservatives could still face a tough challenge from the Liberal Democrats.

The by-election vote count is to take place in the leisure centre in the nearby town of Thame.

At the last general election Mr Johnson had a comfortable 12,793 majority over Lib Dems.

But Press Association analysis of last year's South Oxfordshire District Council polls shows the Tories' lead cut from 27.5% in 2005 to 21.5%.
